| ~ Official Description[1] |
The Veracitor is an
Illuminate piloted exosuit present on planets where
Appropriators are present. These novel piloted armored suits were first encountered on Seasse, with later disassembly confirming that the Veracitor is actually nothing more than an "overly complicated forklift".[1] Its design also clearly shares some similarities with the Illuminate Tripod from the First Galactic War.
The Veracitor is one of two variants of piloted exosuits, which can be easily distinguished thanks to its distinctive golden armor and a lack of any ranged weaponry. Instead, it is armed with two long grabber arms with which it can strike
Helldivers at close distance or grab and toss them into the air or the ground, letting gravity do the rest.
Behavior
Veracitors seem to fill the same niche as
Automaton Hulks, possessing quite a high spawn rate on the missions. When they spot a
Helldiver, they will either begin approaching them at faster speed or start a charge - which is indicated by the mech putting one of its "shoulders" forward. In this charge, Veracitors can only go forward and can be easily dodged by side stepping.
However, if the Veracitor does its normal approach and finds itself within arm's reach of a Helldiver, it will begin simply swinging its arms at them, which WILL hurt.
Instead of punching, the Veracitor can also do an overhead slam with both the arms, dealing medium area damage and killing any unfortunate soul that happens to be right under them. They may also cross their arms to protect the cockpit against attack.
Tips
- Together with the Gatekeeper, a key feature of the Veracitor is the pilot seat located underneath the mech.
- While sniping the pilot seems like fastest way of dealing with the mech, its actual weak-points are instead the sides of the pilot pod that keep it attached, as well as the eye on the top of the construct that provides shielding for the pilot pod.[2]
- Veracitors are deceptively fast, and can outrun a Helldiver with ease. Try running around them instead, as their turn rate is not the best.
- Glowing exhausts on their puncher arms and legs can be destroyed by anti-armor weaponry, instantly killing the mech through transferred damage.
- The arms can be broken with medium-penetration weaponry, limiting its capabilities.
- Breaking a leg will destroy the mech.[3]
Trivia
- The Veracitor and Gatekeeper continue the trend of
Illuminate war machines resembling aquatic life on Earth. In the case of the Veracitor, it seems the inspiration was a Japanese Spider Crab. - If a Veracitor is disabled by a stun weapon such as a G-23 Stun grenade, G-109 Urchin, A/M-23 EMS Mortar Sentry or Orbital EMS Strike, the Overseer pilot can be seen frustratedly hitting the controls to get it working again.
- It is unknown if the attack where Veracitor throws Helldivers into the air is intended or a result of model clipping.
- Due to the exposed positioning of the exomech's cockpit and being first encountered among ruins the
Illuminate are uncovering (as well as sharing a name with a series of forklifts), some players suspected the Veracitor is a digging machine rather than a dedicated battle mech.[4] The official Helldivers Twitter would later confirm the Veracitor is actually an "overly complicated forklift".[1]
- The Veracitor shares its name with a real-world model of forklift produced by Yale Lift Truck Technologies.
