The Spore Charger is a large, heavily armored
Terminid that is covered in spores, causing it to be shrouded in fog.
It is not to be confused with Spore Burst Terminids, lacking their multiple vertical projections and warmer coloration. Spore Chargers are typically seen alongside bile-emitting bugs such as Bile Spitters and Bile Warriors, comprising one of the four core "constellations" of Terminids.
Tactics
- The presence of a Spore Charger is indicated if a sudden spore fog falls over the area where there aren't any Spore Spewers nearby. Much like the structure, the fog becomes heavier, the closer it is to the source. Eliminating the Charger will instantly lift the spore fog.
- They can be seen from a distance thanks to their spores and bright-green bile sacs. The Charger itself will always be in the dead center of the cloud, allowing you to snipe it from afar by predicting its movements.
- Extra caution and vigilance is advised when engaging spore chargers in their fog shroud. It is not uncommon for them to suddenly gore
Helldivers out of nowhere as their fog masks their approach. - The Spore Charger has the same weaknesses as the normal Charger, in addition to being partially covered in bright green spore sacs. These sacs lack armor and can be damaged by any weapon. However, hitting these spore sacs can be tricky at a distance.
- Weapons like the SG-20 Halt and AR-32 Pacifier are more effective against spore chargers, as the have several concentrations of spore sacs in their front, which can be shot and will stun them mid-charge, something the other two charger variants lack.
- Standard anti-Charger tactics still work with Spore Chargers, as they do not have any enhanced armor, nor do they have any unique behaviors.
- Their spore sacs are filled with corrosive bile. If they are killed by an explosion, they will scatter bile nearby, which deals damage overtime and slow down any nearby Helldivers. Anyone within 5 meters will be killed by the explosion and bile.
