Irulta is one of the four planets that reside within the Saleria Sector.
Topography and Astrography

Similar to planets like Baldrick Prime, Irulta is a verdant planet of sparse jungles, tall grasslands rolling over the hills and scattered ponds teeming with various forms of alien life. Scattered throughout the planet's supercontinental landmass are various small lakes while the poles host the two main oceans present on the planet and make the main bodies of water on its surface.
Irulta is bathed by regular rainstorms which, while handy for agriculture, also pose a challenge when fighting any hostiles on the surface, as the rain reduces visibility. Additionally, Irulta is volcanically active, and its volcanos will regularly erupt and eject large amount of flaming rocks into the air. These burning boulders then fall back into the ground, impacting with great force and creating a scorching crater that will kill whatever the initial impact did not. However, these rocks burn so brightly that the zone of impact is illuminated several seconds before the boulder itself hits the ground, allowing ample time to evade it.
The Primordial Jungles of Irulta
Irulta is home to three Mega Cities, which will be listed up next by tier. Mega City tiers have no effect on level generation and only serve to determine a city's health pool in the Galactic War Map. The three Mega Cities on Irulta are the Settlement of Recon Heights, the Town of Silo A and the planetary capital City of Voter's Fallow. Besides these cities, Irulta is home to various urban settlements, which house its rural population, while the undeveloped wilderness houses various detached settler dwellings, frontier camps, farms, broadcast stations, research outposts and
S.E.A.F. facilities. Additionally, having been part of the
Illuminate Empire prior to the First Galactic War, Irulta's surface contains various ancient alien ruins. However, do remember: Only a traitor is curious about alien artifacts!

The Irulta System is a binary star system comprised of a red giant and a blue subgiant. Planet Irulta itself orbits the red giant in the system, as the blue giant can be seen at night but Irulta is never close enough to it that its light reaches Irulta's surface. Besides planet Irulta and its orbiting white, rocky moon, at least 4 other astronomical bodies can be found within the Irulta system, which are a red gas giant, a brown exoplanet, a yellow gas giant and its orbiting brown, rocky moon.
The Irulta System sits at the elbow of the Saleria Sector and makes for a crucial junction connecting the Galactic Core with the Southern Galactic Rim, as it directly links Diluvia and Elysian Meadows. Additionally, it is the only system with Mega Cities in its Sector, further accenting the importance of the Federation's investment into the Sector.
History
Second Galactic War
Return of the Illuminate
Irulta was, much like all other planets in its sector, a peaceful planet colony of Super Earth in the Southern Galactic Rim. Having been incorporated into the Federation after the victory over the
Illuminate in the First Galactic War, Irulta's history was rather uneventful while its economy was stable and prosperous enough to allow its citizens to finance the construction of urbanized settlements, much like its neighbour colony of Calypso.
And much like its neighbour colony of Calypso, an ancient foe of Super Earth would wait for the opportune moment to pounce onto them. On December 30th, 2184, the
Illuminate would attack Irulta, having made their resurgence 2 weeks prior on Calypso. The
Helldivers, hot on the raiders' trail after defeating them at Liberty Ridge, would immediately relocate towards Irulta despite the attack starting during the early hours of the day.

For 12 hours, the Helldivers fought the Illuminate at Irulta to the best of their ability. But it was the lack of numbers during the early operations which prevented them from appropriately delivering justice onto the invading Illuminate and left Irulta's colonies in ruins.
Yet, it seemed as if the invaders weren't done. Following more raids across the Southern Galactic Rim, Irulta once more became the target of the Illuminate on January 11th, 2185, who sent an invasion onto it after their pillaging of Ilduna Prime. Much like last time, with the Helldivers occupied with orders to repel a Terminid incursion into the Farsight Sector, Irulta would only manage to get a small contingent of Helldivers to aid its defense.
This defense would also end in defeat, as the Helldivers lacked the manpower to appropriately pursue and defeat the Illuminate invaders, who would manage to escape the next day.
Dark Energy Crisis
Irulta's prior invasions had left its cities in ruins and its citizenry in shambles, as entire families had now been fragmented if not entirely eliminated because of the widespread death and the Illuminate abductions. Yet, the sadistic Illuminate seemed displeased by their yields from the jungle planet and sought to use it for more nefarious purposes. On February 4th, 2185, as the Helldivers were occupied fighting the
Jet Brigade on the Automaton Front, the Illuminate sent another raid towards Irulta, now with the added intention of harvesting Dark Energy in order to use it to power the Meridian Singularity and ultimately move it towards Super Earth.
Being occupied with the liberation of Chort Bay, only a small force of Helldivers would be able to assist defensive operations on Irulta and, consequently, this third invasion succeeded as well.
Operation Ink & Thunder

Yet the Illuminate insisted in their autocratic intentions. As the days continued, more Dark Energy was harvested from planets throughout the southern sectors and siphoned into the Meridian Singularity, which quickly began to move towards Super Earth. Every invasion that succeeded made the wormhole advance faster until Super Earth High Command could no longer tolerate it. On February 8th, as the Second Galactic War reached its first year of active fighting, High Command would issue critical orders to stop as many Illuminate invasions as possible in order to slow down the movement of the black hole.
Amidst this operation, the Illuminate would target Irulta again on February 11th, hoping to harvest even more Dark Energy for their evil machinations as well as to abduct even more innocent citizens in order to mutate them into monstrous hordes of Voteless after their numbers were severely thinned in the prior battles at Haldus and Ilduna Prime. Knowing that victory at Irulta would likely help slow down the Meridian Singularity enough to avoid collision with Angel's Venture, a planet in the Orion Sector that was within the trajectory between Meridia and Super Earth, the Helldivers immediately deployed as much available manpower as could be fielded, amassing more than 50% of the entire corps on Irulta's surface.
For many hours, the Helldivers fought valiantly throughout its surface yet, to their dismay, their efforts would appear to have been for naught. In the midst of battle, scientists confirmed that the Meridian Singularity had still managed to reach critical momentum and that its collision with Angel's Venture was inevitable, sealing the planet's fate.
Operation Tide of Tyranny

Irulta would find itself pulled once more into the fray on November 22nd, when an
Illuminate invasion host would descend from nearby Reaf. With minimal
Helldivers personnel available through first day of defense, situation looked grim, until
Democracy Space Station on evening of same day, bringing divers from freshly defended Turing. Around 23:00 SEST, the Settlement of Recon Heights was confirmed clear from invaders, giving the defense a much needed breather.
Situation would be turned on its head, when Lesath and Marfark on Western Front were attacked by
Incineration Corps. Despite the
Helldivers being projected to successfully defend the planet, they would shockingly leave Irulta's defenses threadbare over the course of the rest of the 22nd- and they would choose to defend the much larger assault on Lesath rather than the smaller defenses of Marfark and Irulta. When the
Democracy Space Station eventually left Irulta's atmosphere, the planet was now on the ropes, and the
Illuminate would regain the advantage- and the momentum.

Sure enough, in a cruel defeat, Irulta had fallen at roughly 02:30 SEST on the 24th. The toppling of the planet was only made worse by the fact that the
Helldivers had failed to defend either Marfark or Lesath, meaning that they had essentially thrown away a surefire victory on Irulta and lost all 3 planets, which in the process has likely jeopardized the success of the Major Order.
Operation Ad Memoriam
Following the rather embarrassing fall of the planet in November 2185, Irulta remained in the clutches of the
Illuminate well into 2186. Despite being a frontline planet by which the
Squ'ith could invade the Super Earth-bordering Gothmar Sector, the wet jungle world never saw any proper influx of
Helldivers on its surface. The planet continued to lie in destitution, hoping for a stroke of liberty.
Irulta finally received its chance beginning on May 20th, 2186. High Command issued new directives to the
Helldivers, calling for the launch of a significant, offensive crusade into
Illuminate territory to avenge those who had fallen in the defense of Super Earth exactly a year prior. Frontline planets Kerth Secundus, Parsh, Mog, Reaf, and Irulta were the targets of the operation, with the
Helldivers granted a 10-day window to liberate all 5 planets.
Even then, Irulta would still have to wait to see a significant
Helldiver force until later in the Operation. Kerth, Mog, and Parsh were all initially prioritized by the Corps throughout the first 5 days of the campaign. Additionally, a critical secondary order was issued on May 22, 2186, ordering the
Helldivers to protect the luxury world Brilliance by liberating Heeth and Bore Rock from the
Terminids, while also defending Erata Prime. This diversion of the Corps further delayed any serious liberation effort upon Irulta, further causing angst for its citizens.
Eventually, Parsh and Bore Rock were liberated on the 25th and 26th, finally opening up resources in the
Helldiver Corps to attack planets Reaf and Irulta. Luckily for Irulta, by the end of the liberation campaign of Bore Rock,
Helldiver progression within the sprawling city of Voter's Fallow had already made inroads to free it from its
Illuminate captors. Further aiding the push to free the planet was the tactical knowledge that freeing Irulta first would trigger an encirclement of Reaf and Elysian Meadows, effectively decimating any
Illuminate resistance on each planet- and more importantly, Reaf- to ensure success in the Operation.
However,
Helldiver indecision began to hinder progress upon both planets. Those on the Southern Front were effectively split in a 50/50 manner between Reaf and Irulta, despite the
Democracy Space Station aiding efforts on the latter. Despite the tactical advantage in taking Irulta first, a significant number of
Helldivers believed that the liberation of Reaf, already a low resistance planet, would be swift even without needing to encircle the planet. As such, throughout the 26th, the
Helldivers shifted their priority toward Reaf to break the deadlock emerging from the divided Corps. This resulted in as much as 54% of the Corps being deployed to Reaf by the end of the day, versus its initial 24% earlier. Liberation progress sped up significantly as a result of increased manpower and resources, and as such, Reaf was liberated by the early afternoon of the 27th at 14:15 SEST.
The entirety of the force from the now-liberated Reaf began flocking to Irulta in mass. The City of Voter's Fallow, which stood at 94% freed, finally received the numbers needed to achieve its final liberation. As such, just an hour later at 15:30 SEST, the
Helldivers freed Voter's Fallow, effectively granting the Corps an immediate control of 35% of the planet. They then flocked to the smaller Settlement of Recon Heights, crushing
Illuminate forces there in just 4 hours. These two captures gave the
Helldivers effective control of roughly 45%-50% of Irulta, marking swift progress on the planet. The
Helldivers then deployed to Irulta's rural settlements, hoping to clear them in haste to reach the final sprawling Township of Silo A.
TLDR: Town of Silo A liberated on May 28th at 12:45 SEST, which liberated the planet for good. MO still had 48 hours left.
