Mog is one of the four planets that reside within the Morgon Sector. On December 16th, it became the third planet to be attacked by the
Illuminate in the Second Galactic War, not even a day after the first battle against the Illuminate at Calypso.
Topography
Most of the planet is covered in permanent ice sheet, with boulders of ice turning the terrain into a maze of passages. Colonies on the planet are usually placed amidst giant snowdrift plains, lacking any natural landmarks, thus making fights outside said colonies challenging due to lack of cover.
On cosmic scale, Mog serves as southern gateway into Morgon Sector.
History
Second Galactic War
Return of the Illuminate
A Helldiver Unit looks at a wartorn settlement on Mog from a nearby cliff. December 16th, 2184
Mog was an ordinary colony in the Southern Galactic Rim. Having been colonized at some point after the First Galactic War, Mog's history hadn't been very notable or outstanding in any way. Given its arctic climate and its propensity for blizzards, Mog's path to wealth and prosperity probably came mostly from its advantageous location right between the Rictus and Gallux sectors making it a valuable spaceport, as it could be connected to at least 6 planets throughout 3 sectors.
However, the autocratic
Illuminate, putrid and corroded due to their outdated mysticism, could not tolerate such abundance laying in another species' hands. Mere hours after being defeated at Calypso, the Squids would make a second attempt at an offensive, attacking the underdefended Genesis Prime with hopes of collapsing its defenses within 12 hours, then followed up with a secondary parallel assault at Mog. However, they did not count with the Helldivers and their righteous might who, having rebuked the Illuminate once, were already planning to repeat their feat a second time.
Supposedly, many
S.E.A.F. personnel and novice
Helldivers have referred to this attack as "being mogged," which was a slang from the pre Super Earth generation Alpha (From 2012-2024). Unfortunately, the meaning has been lost in the digital archives.
After taking the planet, the
Illuminate quickly retreated from Mog, and started an offensive on Bellatrix, leaving the planet in ruins and its rightful resources stolen. Yet it seemed the nefarious squids couldn't steal enough from the snowy planet. On January 9th, 2185, immediately after their raid at Andar, the Illuminate sent a second assault onto Mog. Even more unfortunately was the fact that the
Helldivers were also contending with both a
Terminid surge on Terrek and an
Automaton offensive at Matar Bay, which ultimately left but a small contingent able to fight on Mog for a second time.
Operation Deep Cleaning
On June 6th, the
Ministry of Science discovered that Mog, along with Bellatrix, Haldus, and Hybrobius, had
Illuminate hideouts. Thanks to wreckage analysis copiously salvaged from Super Earth's Mega Cities, the
Ministry of Science identified that the enemy's cloaking mechanisms used Dark Fluid to bend light around their smaller spacecraft. And so they fled Super Earth's orbit, hiding in these locations, presumably built before the Invasion of Super Earth, as a backup plan in case that failed.
When they were discovered, the Illuminate quickly took control of the planets, establishing a 3% resistance on Mog. High Command declared a new Major Order, called Operation Deep Cleaning, and Mog was one of its targets.
The
Helldivers quickly mobilized in this system, deployed the
DSS and activated the HOD, subsequently reducing the resistance to 2%. After 2 days of fight, Mog was liberated on June 8, and the Morgon Sector, along with the planet, returned to
Federation of Super Earth's control.
Operation Thrice as Nice
Mog would come under
Illuminate once again on August 26th. As a part of the Squid offensive to the north, it coincided with similar offensive on other fronts, stretching the Helldivers thin. Most of the
Helldivers from new reinforcment force would redeploy to Seyshell Beach, leaving Mog with only skeleton crew. Planet was declared lost on the following day.
Operation Ad Memoriam
With the First Anniversary of Victory on Super Earth approaching fast, High Command decided to begin celebrations 10 days in advance, to commemorate all days of invasion. For this, massive Crusade to the south has been called, demanding of
Helldivers to liberate the belt of worlds closest to Sol Sector and Mog.
Helldivers begun their operations on Kerth on evening of May 20th, and liberating the system shortly after midnight on May 22nd. Right away, they enmass begun to arrive into Mog's orbit. With Help of
Democracy Space Station, Mog was swiftly taken on morning of May 23rd, releasing the planet from Squid occupation for the first time since August 2185. With this,
Illuminate hold of nearby Regnus was strained, allowing
S.E.A.F. to begin taking ground on their own.

Trivia
- “Mog” is a slang term that originated in online communities, particularly in the context of discussions about appearance or status. It is short for “mogul” and is often used as a verb meaning to overshadow, surpass, or outshine someone else in terms of attractiveness, success, or any other desirable quality.
