The strange subversion of photosynthesis that sustains the oddly-hued flora that flourishes on this planet remains an intriguing mystery to the Super Earth's greatest exo-biologists.
~ Official Description

Genesis Prime is one of the seven planets in the Rictus Sector. On December 16th, it became the second planet to be attacked by the Illuminate Icon Illuminate in the Second Galactic War, not even a day after the first battle against the Illuminate at Calypso.

Topography

Similar to Malevelon Creek, Veld and Merak, an Ionic Jungle world covered in dense jungle shadowed in a perpetual twilight and troubled by frequent ion storms in the upper atmosphere. However unlike it's contemporaries, Genesis Prime is also highly populated, with urban sprawl similar to that seen on neighboring Calypso, meaning that no matter where you go on this world, one can expect fighting to be an up close and personal matter.

In addition to the numerous smaller urbanized towns and settlements, Genesis Prime also possesses two large cities of note, these being Mallstrip Nodes and the planetary capital of Birth. Whilst these two cities would avoid direct attack during the initial hit-and-run terror campaign of the Illuminate Icon Illuminate, the stripping of the SEAF logo S.E.A.F. colonial garrisons during battle of Super Earth Icon Super Earth would leave these fortified strongholds -- and indeed the whole planet -- vulnerable to xenophobic occupation by the resurgent Squ'ith.

History

Second Galactic War

Return of the Illuminate

Genesis Prime was an inconspicuous colony in the Southern Galactic Rim. Having been colonized at some point after the First Galactic War, Genesis Prime's history hadn't been very noteworthy. It can be assumed that this colony found enough economic success that it eventually could allow its colonists to build urbanized settlements, complete with water, waste management, electricity and, most importantly, well kept green grass lawns, the pinnacle of any Super Citizen's home.

However, the decadent Illuminate Icon Illuminate, rife with xenophobic envy of the human race's achievements, could not tolerate such success. Mere hours after being righteously defeated at Calypso, the Squids would make a second attempt at an offensive, attacking the underdefended Genesis with hopes of collapsing its defenses within 12 hours. However, they did not count with the Helldivers and their righteous might who, having rebuked the Illuminate once, were already planning to repeat their feat a second time.

However, the Illuminate would then send a second attack force towards nearby Mog, another valuable colony full of urban settlements. This development would force the Helldivers to divert towards its aid, as High Command updated orders and now demanded not just for Genesis Prime to be held, but for an additional 7 planets to be defended against the Squ'ith invaders.

Despite the Helldiver's valuant efforts, they wouldn't be able to stop the Illuminate's sacking of Genesis Prime. Although they did manage to force the Illuminate to retreat, Genesis Prime was left in ruins, its urban colonies turned to smoldering rubble. But as with many things, in due time it shall all be rebuilt.

Operation Democracy Delivered

Genesis Prime would be one of the earliest victims of the Illuminate's xenophobic anger. It's settlements laid in ruins and many families across its surface had been either destroyed entirely or were now fractured. The Genesisites mourned their losses and attempted to perform reconstruction tasks as the Illuminate continued their pillaging campaign throughout the Southern Galactic Rim. Yet, it would seem as if this brief moment of respite was merely a cruel ruse from the Illuminate in order to make Genesis Prime easier to strike later as, on January 20th, 2185, the Illuminate engaged on a daring triple assault on Genesis Prime, Canopus and Brink-2 in a bold move to attempt to recoup the massive losses they had accrued not only in Calypso, but also across many failed raids that occured after Genesis' own first invasion.

The Helldivers, having been ordered to repel a massive number of Illuminate incursions with the help of the recently repaired Democracy Space Station, would immediately mobilize as quickly as they could in order to alleviate the 3 besieged planets. With their previous failure on Genesis Prime looming in their consciousness, the main fleet opted to aim for it first. The Illuminate had made many significant gains during the first 6 hours of the invasion and the situation seemed unwinnable. Yet....it was not Liberty's will for the Helldivers to be defeated again. With the liberation of Heeth, the contingent left behind at the Terminid Front was now available to fight the Illuminate, alongside the Democracy Space Station, which had now enabled its Heavy Ordnance Deployment.

As the Helldivers converged onto Genesis Prime, the Democracy Space Station arrived to provide orbital artillery support, significantly boosting the Helldivers' effectiveness on the ground and rapidly turning the situation around. With less than 4 hours left before the Illuminate had managed to plunder what they wanted, the Helldivers successfully obliterated their invasion fleet on Genesis Prime. The Genesissites erupted in celebration, as their prior losses had been rightfully avenged and now their dead could find peace, while the nefarious Squ'ith were forced to withdraw in defeat after suffering catastrophic losses from the sheer amount of Orbital Barrages utilized.

Interim (July 2, 2185)

Up until mid-April 2185, Genesis Prime would face constant, relentless raids by the Illuminate Icon Illuminate. Its position as a frontline world in the Rictus Sector and its high population made it a constant target for the Squ'ith and their vile machinations, with their incursions leaving colonies in tatters and countless more colonists kidnapped and likely converted into Voteless. Further, the planet was just one of the dozens that the Illuminate used as a means of gathering Dark Energy amidst the Meridian Wormhole Crisis that took the lives of millions upon millions in its collisions with Angel's Venture, Moradesh, and Ivis.

Following the victory of the Helldivers Companion Helldivers against the Illuminate Icon Illuminate, Genesissites would watch on as the Squ'ith turned back to the Galactic South to redress their pathetic defeat and re-establish their former empire of a century ago. Their hold in the South was initially fragile, with the Helldivers Companion Helldivers liberating 2 of their 4 reserve caches across Mog and Bellatrix. With their third reserve outpost on Hydrobius 50% liberated, the Illuminate would catch a major stroke of fortune as the Terminids Icon Terminids launched a massive, unprovoked outbreak in the Korpus Sector, enabling them to retain their holds on Hydrobius and Haldus. Using this week-long window of opportunity, the Illuminate would sabotage Super Earth Icon Super Earth satellites and use this period to devastating effect. By the time the satellites were restored to working function, the Illuminate had 100% control over Alaraph, Alamak VII, Alairt III, Herthon Secundus, Heze Bay, and Karlia.

Not only were the Illuminate Icon Illuminate in a stronger foothold over the South, but they had also twisted the Mega-Cities of Alamak and Alairt into strongholds of tyranny, with the cities now reverse-engineered into unrecognizable citadels of horror. The Helldivers Companion Helldivers were immediately ordered to reclaim both Alamak and Alairt to save whatever remnants were left of their beautiful cities, but were ultimately unsuccessful as the Illuminate had barely maintained their hold over Alairt III.

The defeat on Alairt would further spur the Illuminate Icon Illuminate to continue their campaign of terror amidst their imperialistic ambitions, as they began to formally invade planets with the intent of capturing them, as opposed to their hit-and-run tactics prior to the Battle for Super Earth. Zea Rugosia, Ain-5, Setia, and Senge 23 would all succumb to this fate, falling into the hands of their xenophobic actuators to continue their despotic schemes.

Unfortunately, this fate would befall the Genesissites as well. On July 2, shortly after brutal operations against the augmented Automaton Jet Brigade Icon Jet Brigade out West, the Illuminate Icon Illuminate would send 12 invasion fleets toward the blue planet- and this time, they had reached the Mega-Cities of Birth and Mallstrip Nodes. Though Genesis stood as a valuable planet to control in the frontline Rictus Sector, the Helldivers Companion Helldivers opted to engage in a counteroffensive on Curia against the Automatons Icon Automatons, and as such, Genesis's defenses were heavily undermanned, and the planet fell in the early afternoon of July 3.
