Senge 23 is one of the five planets that reside within the Omega Sector. On June 9th, 2026, Senge 23, alongside Hydrobius, became the second planet to be absorbed into the Void, after Seasse in March.
Topography and Astrography
A Pelican Shuttle flies towards a Super Destroyer fireteam awaiting in orbit over Senge 23.
Similar to planets like Calypso, Kraz, Myrium and Effluvia, Senge 23 is an arid, rocky copper desert whose reddish dunes are only occasionally interrupted by tall, mushroom-shaped plateaus that dominate its horizons. In between these plateaus lay valleys full of sand and sporadic collections of puddles, rocks and smalls springs where a biosphere of xeno-organisms with exceptionally efficient water usage has evolved over millions of years.
Senge 23 is home to two Mega Cities, which will be mentioned next by tier. Mega City tiers have no effect on level generation and only serve to determine a city's health pool in the galactic war map. The two Mega Cities on Senge 23 are the Settlement of Eaglestar Eternal and the planetary capital Town of Exalt. Besides these 2 cities, Senge 23 has sparse collections of urbanized frontier colonies all throughout its rugged surface, built to house its rural population.
Senge 23, as indicated by its name, is one of the planets that orbits its eponymous Senge System. Besides Senge itself, at least one other planet can be found in proximity to it, which is a massive red exoplanet. Senge 23, by itself, does not present much strategic value. Sitting as the southernmost colony in the entire Federation space, Senge's location only really serves as a port from where to conduct deep space exploration beyond the Southern Galactic Fringe. However, Senge 23's cities, in conjuction with those at Karlia and Hydrobius, form part of the urban core of the Omega Sector. Due to the great deal of capital investment into the area, the recovery of Senge 23 and its cities should be considered important.
History
Illuminate Raid Campaign (Dec. 13, 2184- April 29, 2185)
In the far reaches of the Galactic South, Senge 23 was a peaceful beacon of liberty. With its tall mountains overlooking the copper-shaded dunes and dirt plains, the land provided hubs for colonists to build new homesteads. Though the climate of Senge was often arid, sharp-minded colonists managed their water consumption efficiently, ensuring their crops would not succumb to the ambiguous weather patterns. Small-scale, yet bustling towns dotted the surface of Senge, with urbanized settlements being a centripetal force to maximize the planet's economy and enhance community.
Amidst its seemingly simple life, Senge managed to avoid the horrors of the Second Galactic War, which erupted in the Eastern and Western fronts. Engaged in a difficult two-front war,
Super Earth had managed to hold both the
Terminids and the
Automatons at bay through most of 2184. Though new challenges arose in the form of The Gloom and the appearance of Automaton sub-factions such as the
Jet Brigade,
Super Earth held its own, though swaths of territory throughout the North, West, and East were occupied. The Galactic South escaped any involvement in the quagmire, but as the year went on, things would change drastically.
On December 13, 2184, the Galactic South was plunged into the War as the ancient, thought-to-be extinct
Illuminate Cult resurfaced and began attacking planet Calypso in the Saleria Sector. A State of Emergency was declared, and all
Helldivers were reassigned from the
Terminid and
Automaton fronts to the defense of the Galactic South immediately. Though Calypso was eventually defended on December 16th, the
Illuminate were not deterred and continued their hit-and-run attacks on Genesis Prime, Mog, and elsewhere. The entire Galactic South was no longer safe- even a planet as isolated as Senge 23.
On December 23, 2184, the threats grew larger against Senge as the
Illuminate raid campaign reached the Omega Sector targeting Senge's southern and eastern flanks of Hydrobius and Seasse. These planets faced further attacks as the weeks went by, and it was only a matter of time before Senge was likely targeted.
On February 1, 2185, the worst fears of those on Senge 23 came to pass as an
Illuminate raid party began pillaging the planet and kidnapping colonists to be converted into Voteless for their war machine. Senge 23's colonial overseer immediately issued an urgent SOS beacon imploring for
Helldiver aid. Unfortunately, due to the urgent situation in the Western Front with the
Helldivers tasked with destroying the
Jet Brigade Factories on Chort Bay, few Helldivers heeded Senge's SOS. The planet was overwhelmed by raiding
Illuminate forces, who kidnapped many colonists before withdrawing and ending their attack 12 hours after it began. Senge was in ruins- and now fearing for what came next.
On February 11, 2185, Senge was back in the crosshairs of
Illuminate forces once again. This time, even more urgency was tied to Senge's situation as it had been revealed that the
Illuminate siphoned Dark Energy from every raid they conducted, which then was used to power the Meridian Singularity and physically move the wormhole toward Angel's Venture. With Angel's Venture at risk of being torn apart by the wormhole, it was imperative that Senge was defended to stop the
Illuminate's harvesting of the mysterious Dark Energy. Sadly, the planet was not successfully defended in a 12-hour window, and the
Helldivers ultimately failed to repel the
Illuminate invaders who used their newly gathered Dark Energy, confirming Angel's Venture's impending doom.
The
Illuminate eventually made 3 more raid attempts on the planet between March and April. On every single occasion,
Helldiver forces were occupied with orders elsewhere, leaving Senge 23 to its own devices. The planet was in tatters following the consecutive, brutal assaults on its infrastructure and the illegal kidnapping of its colonists. Its staging ground as a manner by which to harvest Dark Energy added to the pain of having left Senge and the Galactic South to fend for itself. The
Illuminate Raid Campaign was unfortunately effective, and
Super Earth's peaceful colonists bore the brunt of their terrorism.
Post
Illuminate Raid Campaign (July 2185)
Having been brutalized by the
Illuminate reign of terror, Senge 23's colonists sought to rebuild their damaged infrastructure. Despite having bruised hearts and damaged homes, life moved on, and so did the ever-changing Second Galactic War. The
Illuminate, ever bitter after their defeat at the hands of
Super Earth 100 years ago, sought to rectify their eradicated ancestors by invading Super Earth itself in May 2185. The entirety of the Federation stood on the precipice of collapse as the Illuminate Great Host bombarded Super Earth's historic Megacities to ruin. However, they would be stopped by Super Earth's elite
Helldivers, who paid 120 million of their lives to defend their homeworld. Eventually, after 10 days of fighting, Illuminate Great Host forces were routed on May 30th, 2185, fleeing in retreat after being virtually eradicated once more. The Federation burst into jubilant joy as
Super Earth passed its greatest test yet. Though 5 of its Megacities were bombed to complete ruin, Super Earth was victorious all the same.
Following their embarrassing defeat,
Illuminate forces retreated to their hideouts in the Galactic South to begin reestablishing their former widespread empire. The Squ'ith entrenched themselves within the Hanzo, Ferris, and Akira Sectors. Most worryingly for Senge 23, however, was that the
Illuminate positioned themselves within the Omega Sector as well, staking claim to planet Hydrobius- Senge's southern flank. Given the newly established FTL line between the two planets, and the recent
Illuminate captures of Zea Rugosia and Ain-5, Senge had every reason to grow apprehensive and begin stockpiling resources and weapons to fight against an imminent Illuminate assault.
Sure enough, on July 1, 2185, an urgent SOS beacon emerged from Senge 23 as 11 large
Illuminate invasion fleets began assaulting the planet. The situation grew dire, and the
Helldivers were called upon for aid. Despite having no Major Orders at the time, the
Helldiver Corps only dispatched a minimal part of their forces to repel the Illuminate invaders, having been focused on the re-liberation of Curia from the
Automatons. As such, 24 hours after the assault began, the
Illuminate collapsed the defenses of Senge and officially captured the planet- a devastating blow for the colonists of Senge. Matters were then made worse for the planet when its western flank, Setia, came under attack and was eventually captured by
Illuminate forces on July 8th. The loss of Setia condemned Senge to its doom, as it closed off the last available FTL network to access the world. Senge was now fully in the hands of its
Illuminate captors.
Operation Heatwave
Well into 2186, Senge still had yet to be avenged for its tragic fall to the
Illuminate Cult in July 2185. The planet saw nary an operation on its surface, save for a brief window between September and November 2185 following the liberation of Hydrobius. However, the fall of Hydrobius in November had once again closed Senge off from any chance of freedom. The planet remained captive, closed off from the light of liberty as the
Helldivers were forced to pursue critical endeavors on Oshaune, Cyberstan, and elsewhere.
In March 2186, shortly after the
Helldivers' failure to liberate Cyberstan from the
Automatons and the re-emergent
Cyborgs, all attention shifted to the
Illuminate front. New, unexplained anomalies on planet Seasse, along with predictions by the Cult of the Orb, demanded immediate interdiction from the
Helldivers. Eventually, upon reaching Seasse, the
Helldivers discovered the
Illuminate's new tyrannical plan: the creation of powerful
Exostorms that began to engulf the planet for an unknown purpose. The
Helldivers began operations to hinder this newfound metaphysical disaster, but the
Illuminate, aided by their new sub-faction of piloted constructs dubbed the
Appropriators, continued to escalate the Exostorm into a
Class 3 Exostorm which was devouring Seasse. Eventually, by March 24th, Seasse became completely enveloped in the Exostorm and went dark. The planet was no longer visible by any tracking stations, and satellite probes found no trace of the planet. Seasse was unobservable and had completely disappeared into what was called The Void.
This latest disaster created by the
Illuminate became the most urgent, new priority for the
Helldivers to target. The
Illuminate attempted to expand The Void by conjuring
Exostorms on Hort and Rirga Bay in March and May, but were turned back by the valiant
Helldivers, with the victory on Rirga Bay being particularly seismic.
Leading up to this point, Senge had yet to be threatened by this newfound metaphysical threat. However, given its proximity as the next-door neighbor of The Void with its direct connection to Seasse, it was only a matter of time before the
Squ'ith set their sights upon the tormented world.
On June 2, 2186, with the
Helldivers engaged in defensive operations against the
Automatons, the frustrated and vengeful
Illuminate sought to strike back after their unexpected defeat from the jaws of victory on Rirga Bay. Two new units of Illuminate
Appropriators emerged from The Void before stationing on Hydrobius and Senge 23. Then, at roughly 09:30 SEST, satellite observations confirmed a dire, unfolding situation as the
Illuminate began conjuring
Exostorms upon both Hydrobius and Senge 23. Urgent liberation orders were immediately issued for planet Hydrobius, with projections indicating that the
Illuminate needed roughly a week to envelop both planets within The Void.
This sudden disaster could not have come at a worse time for the
Helldivers, who were forced to engage the
Jet Brigade threatening the Major Order targets of planets K and Fury. As such, very few
Helldivers answered the call to save Hydrobius- and none could even engage the
Illuminate on Senge 23, which was completely trapped behind fully Illuminate-controlled space. The
Exostorms on both planets continued to grow, escalating to
Class 3 Exostorms by June 7th. With very little
Helldiver presence on either planet despite the eventual end of operations against the
Automatons, the evidence was clear: Hydrobius and Senge 23 were doomed.
On June 9th, 2186, at 09:36 SEST, Hydrobius and Senge 23 had officially been engulfed by their
Exostorms. The
Illuminate had officially taken both planets into their new dominion of The Void, now adding to their growing metaphysical empire. Senge 23 had gone dark and was no longer observable from satellites or any Galactic Map.
