Return of the Illuminate

Acubens Prime was an unimportant planet colony of Super Earth, secluded within the Acubens system and far away from most of the troubles that often hassle other colonies like it. Having been settled after the First Galactic War had come to an end, Acubens' colonists would struggle at the start, having to deal with the mysterious alien flora and fauna on the planet. But as is built into humankind's lineage, determination and perseverance allowed the colonists to slowly master their environment.

The citizens of Acubens would see the fruits of their labour and tradition manifested as beautiful urbanized settlements, with a sustainable energy grid, an enviable water supply, top-of-the-line waste management, paved roads and, most importantly, pristine grass lawns for the proud children of Managed Democracy to pitch their Super Earth flags and erect Helldiver memorials in.

However, during all this time, the remnant of a long vanquished evil lurked in the shadows, waiting for the moment to pounce. The Illuminate Icon Illuminate, an old foe that had once defied Humanity, had impossibly resurafced back from their presumed extinction.

On December 18th, early in the morning, the Illuminate launched 2 coordinated strikes on the Southern sectors of the Federation. Alongside Acubens, the Illuminate also attacked Andar, another planet colony. The Helldivers; having already faced and repelled Illuminate raids at Calypso, Bellatrix and elsewhere, heeded the call for aid and deployed on both planets, aiming to end the senseless pillaging of the illustruous colonies. However, the Illuminate would manage to slip away, as the Helldivers had to ultimately concentrate their forces on Andar. Yet, the Illuminate still suffered enough losses for their raid in Acubens Prime to be insufficient in recuperating them.

Operation Shattered Skies

Despite its defeat, Acubens Prime stood strong for the remainder of 2184 and would remain undisturbed by the war throughout the month of January 2185, as the Helldivers were diverted away to deal with Illuminate raids at Julheim and the resurgence of the Jet Brigade Icon Jet Brigade at the Automaton Front. However, what little reconstruction managed to be done by Acubens' citizens would soon find itself undone when, on February 3rd, 2185, an Illuminate invasion fleet made planetfall.

With the Helldivers having been ordered to hold their ground at Chort Bay after the destruction of its Automatons Icon Jet Brigade Factories in order to safeguard the withdrawal of SEAF logo S.E.A.F. troops and personnel, Acubens' raid would go mostly unattended, with only a small contingent of Helldivers being present to aid with the defense as best as they could. Still, 12 hours after making planetfall, the Illuminate would have plundered all of what they wanted and left the planet.

Operation Gloom Eternal

During Operation Gloom Eternal, Acubens Prime would see a third Illuminate invasion beset its surface on February 21st. However, little to no Helldiver support was available, as the Helldiver Corps had been tasked with the momentous undertaking of exploring Fori Prime in what then became the First Gloom Expedition. Yet, the few Helldivers that did volunteer to aid with Acubens' defense would bring the Super Earth Icon Democracy Space Station with them, as the DSS had been prevented from being deployed onto Fori Prime in hopes of preserving the Expedition's scientific endeavours while also attempting to limit the damage to the Terminid material and environments that were to be studied.

Predictably, the Illuminate would manage to pillage the planet almost unimpeded, harvesting Dark Energy to then use it for their nefarious machinations before then leaving 12 hours later. Yet, having sustained heavy damage from the Democracy Space Station's Orbital Blockade alongside the damage done by the Helldivers, the Illuminate would send a second invasion 2 days later, on February 23rd. This time, since the DSS Orbital Blockade had been deactivated, the Helldivers struggled to contain the invasion and, once more, the Illuminate escaped 12 hours after the initial landing.

Operation Good Samaritan

The devastated Acubens would get a week of peace and quiet, as the Illuminate continued their odious campaign of planet-hopping invasions and Dark Energy Harvesting. Amidst an ongoing Automaton offensive in the Tanis Sector against the Hammer Icon Deep Mantle Forge Complex, the Illuminate sent yet another invasion onto Acubens Prime. On March 6th, the Illuminate made planetfall and began attacking the planet. With the Helldivers having chosen to prevent the Automatons from capturing Claorell, and with it the Deep Mantle Forge Complex, Acubens Prime would only see a fraction of the Helldiver Corps deployed onto its surface once again.

Fittingly, the Illuminate would manage to harvest even more Dark Energy off of Acubens Prime before abandoning the planet 12 hours later.
