History

Second Galactic War

Return of the Illuminate

Rasp was an isolated lunar colony in the Gallux Sector, far off in the Southern Galactic Rim. Having been settled after the First Galactic War, its history was riddled with little events of importance and its economy, while also rather standard and unremarkable, still was robust enough to allow for the construction of urbanized settlements on its meteor showered surface.

However, an envious foe stared from within the darkness of the cosmos, awaiting the opportunity to strike. On December 24th, 2184; amidst the celebration of the Festival of Reckoning that, the Illuminate Icon Illuminate attacked. The foe that had once been thought defeated had returned from apparent extinction and was now dead set on plundering the resources of the southern sectors while abducting its citizens. However, the Helldivers would immediately heed the call for aid, standing as Humanity's bulwark against the darkness.

Having recently defended the Umlaut Sector against the tyrannical Terminids, they now had all the time and motivation needed to deal a decisive blow to the nefarious squids. Rasp's invasion would not be repealed however, as the Helldivers lacked the manpower necessary to repeal the Illuminate, leaving thousands of civilians dead or missing and many colonies damaged or destroyed to some extent.

However, Rasp's retribution would not take long to arrive. The Illuminate continued to plunder other planets yet found no relief to their undemocratic thirst for resources. As such, they attempted an invasion of Emorath on January 16th, 2185. However, this ridiculous attempt would be immediately repelled by the Helldivers; who not only turned up en masse due to a new major order given by Super Earth High Command to defend against as many Illuminate assaults as possible but also had their best weapon, the Democracy Space Station, back in their hands and upgraded to a state better than before.

The invasion of Emorath would mark the first astounding success against the Illuminate, but they would not stop there. They quickly turned their gaze to one of the planets they had plundered once before amidst the chaos that ensued in December 2184 upon their unannounced resurgence: Rasp.

Later on January 16th, 2185, the Illuminate sent an invasion fleet onto Rasp, hoping for another victory on the barren moon. However, they would be sorely mistaken as the Helldivers would turn up in great numbers and delivered upon them the might of Managed Democracy. After 8 hours of fighting, Rasp would be defended as the Illuminate invasion fleet was destroyed, granting the Helldivers another victory and yet more millions of casualties to the near extinct, autocratic Squ'ith.
