Inari is one of the five planets that reside within the Korpus Sector.
Topography
If the planet of Inari ever support life, then it was long before the Federation stepped foot on the world. The environment is typical of a "Boneyard" type world; an extremely cold and thin atmosphere, with only the hardiest of human colonists and native lichen surviving for any length of time. Whilst there are some sparse colonies on the planets surface, unlike other planets within the Korpus Sector, Inari possesses no major cities and were it not for it's connections to other
History
Inari was, for much of its recorded history, a peaceful planet colony in the Eastern Galactic Mid Rim. Having been settled during the Great Democratization after the end of the First Galactic War although unlike it's neighbors in the Korpus Sector, Inari would never thrive on account of the planet's hostile environment. Even so, whilst it was not prosperous it was at least a quiet world and somewhat peaceful world though this was never to last.
Second Galactic War
Operation Pest Control
Early in February 2184, Inari would have to cut itself off the Federation's FTL Network alongside the rest of the Korpus Sector in order to prevent the
Terminids at Veld from possibly spreading farther south, a move that would unfortunately only delay the inevitable. Whilst Inari would be spared the horrors of the
Illuminate terror campaign, an outbreak of the
Predator Strain would overwhelm the neighboring Orion and Celeste Sectors, with Veld, Slif and Krakatwo falling to the
Terminids.
Then, on June 10th, 2185, the
Terminids launched a massive onslaught onto both Crucible and Alta V. Super Earth High Command immediately issued a major order for the Helldivers to hold all planets in the Korpus Sector by all means necessary. Spore-fall would occur on Inari on the 11th of June, with outbreaks of the
Predator Strain occurring across the planet. The few
S.E.A.F. garrisons were immediately overwhelmed, requiring an intervention by the
Helldivers. Despite a valiant effort by the
Helldivers to hold the world, too much of the corps were unfortunately spread across other, more strategically vital planets across the sector. Twenty four hours later, the defenses of the
S.E.A.F. defenders collapse barely an hour before the terminid swarm was predicted to break.
Almost immediately the
Predator Strain would spread to nearby Alta V, ensuring the planet's fall in similarly short order. Inari itself would be liberated two days later on the 14th of June, with the having to immediately split themselves once more to defend the planet of Caramoor and liberate Alta V. Let Inari be a reminder that the price of freedom is eternal vigilance... and a well oiled military complex.
Operation Ultrakill
Inari would remain free for the next two months, with the
Terminids being slowly pushed further and further back across the eastern front. However in the latter half of August, 2185, multiple large-scale
Terminid incursions would be reported on planets surrounding the Gloom as spore outflow from the Gloom rose to unprecedented levels and continued to grow exponentially.
Xenobiologists at the
Centre of Science would quickly conclude that the
Terminids were undergoing a population explosion -- with only way to stop the assault being to incur a drastic reduction in the
Terminid population. Unfortunately this was easier said than done, especially once the
Automatons and
Illuminate took advantage of the Federation's weakness to launch their own offensives into federation space, spreading the
S.E.A.F. and
Helldiver Corps to breaking point.
By the 25th of August, the Borgus Sector had completely fallen, cutting off the Jin Xi Sector from the rest of Federation Space and putting the highly populated Korpus Sector in danger of being invaded for a second time. The only thing standing in the
Terminids was was Inari, with it being here that the
Helldivers chose to make their stand. Sporefall would occur at roughly 9:30 AM, with a massive outbreak of Impalers being reported around 12:30, yet despite this the
Helldivers refused to give ground.
Fighting would continue until the early morning of the 26th, when the
Terminid outbreak was finally neutralized and with it, the threat to the Korpus Sector. However the
Helldivers could not celebrate just yet as there were still many fronts that needed their heroic intervention.
War on Dissidence
Operation Tide of Tyranny
During the Dissidence crisis of November 2185,
S.E.A.F. outworld garrisons would be pulled back from outer defenses to maintain order Gaellivare, Alta V and Diluvia until the crisis is resolved. Inari's garrison would be one of those, and unfortunately it would leave the planet vulnerable to a
Terminid outbreak on the 24th of November, which the
Helldivers were unable to quell.
However with Inari being a vital bulwark against Korpus Sector from the infested worlds of the Borgus fringe, it's reclamation was of vital importance -- second only to the capture of Afoyay Bay to construct the
Center for the Containment of Dissidence. After regrouping on the 2nd of December, the
Helldiver Corps would launch an organized liberation campaign to liberate Inari and with the support of the
Democracy Space Station.
Efforts would be temporarily stymied when
Super Earth High Command ordered the
Helldiver Corps to redirect themselves to Pherkad Secundus to investigate extremely-high-confidence intel that indicated dissidents hiding from justice in the
Terminid-infested jungles. Never the less, Inari would be successfully liberated in the evening of December 3rd.
