helldivers

Abundant with life, this wet planet is covered in deep oceans, thick forests, and tall grasses.
~ Official Description

Rogue 5 is one of the five planets that reside within the Rigel Sector. It stands as southernmost system on the current map.

Topography

Similar to other planets with its biome, most of Rogue 5 is covered in sparse jungle, growing on hilly terrain that is broken up with bodies of water.

Due to planet being on the frontline with Illuminate, most of operations take place in colonies, resulting in water being only present on edges of the map. Instead, most of topography consists of small blocks of colony architecture built on flatland, obscured by massive hills looming above.

The weather consists of either clear skies, torrential downpour or heavy fog, cycling constantly in minutes.

The planet is active geologically, indicated by often rains of molten rocks from present volcanoes. This activity pelts the battlefield for prolonged moment, but the landing place of said rock can be easily predicted by watching the glowing circles on the ground.

Secondary danger of this biome are the Spike Trees, present in undeveloped area between colonies - when damaged, this plant will release explosion of deadly spikes - both to you and enemies. This particular plant is also an extreme danger to vehicles, as it can destroy both Mech's and FRV's with singular explosion.

On Cosmic scale, this planet serves as entrance into Rigiel Sector from nearby Seasse, and as southern border of Federation space.

History

Great Democratization

Rogue 5 was colonized sometime after the First Galactic War. Due to its distance, it remained as a small colony on the edge of Federation Space, built on old IlluminateHD Illuminate territory.

However, despite being so far removed from the ongoing conflict, Rogue 5 would still find itself dragged into the Second Galactic War by a foe who clearly cared little about things like civility. The Illuminate Icon Illuminate, an ancient alien race that had once defied humanity, had returned and were intent on destroying Managed Democracy by all the means their nefarious tentacles could make use of.

Second Galactic War

Omens of Tyranny (December 2184-April 2185)

Like many other worlds in galactic south, Rogue was a victim of in total, 3 Illuminate Icon Illuminate raids through this period. And just like most of them, calls for help were mostly ignored by Helldivers, as the Meridian Crisis has taken priority.

Operation Good Samaritan (February 26th - March 3rd, 2185)

On March 1st, 2185, amidst an ongoing operation against the Automatons in the Nanos Sector, Rogue 5 would be suddenly and deliberately attacked by an Illuminate invasion fleet. Despite its distance from the conflict, the Illuminate sought to use the planet to harvest Dark Energy in order to use it to move the Meridian Singularity onto Super Earth to destroy it.

The Helldivers Companion Helldivers, despite being focused on containing the Automaton offensives on the Ymir and Gellert Sectors, still dispatched a sizeable contingent towards Rogue 5 in hopes of aiding its defense. Despite the sudden influx, Illuminate were able to take off with their bounty of Dark Energy on afternoon of March 2nd.

Into The Unjust (September 2185 - January 2186)

Rogue 5 would find itself under subsequent attack and occupation on October 14th. This came after the Major Order to reclaim ancient Illuminate ruins from planets in Ferris Sector, to which Illuminate Icon Illuminate responded with attacks on Rirga Bay, Seasse and Hort. While all the mentioned planets besides Hort were taken without much resistance from Helldivers, almost 3 thousand Helldivers Companion Helldivers answered the call to defend Rogue 5. With The High Command declaring Major Order for firework procurement on Zosma and Marfark, no more reinforcements came. Planet was declared lost on afternoon of 15th. From there, Squids continued their attack upon Rigel Sector, eventually leaving Hort as last world standing. Despite the successful defenses, it too fell in late January, permanently locking the Rigel from any deployment.
