History
Special Military Operations
Automaton Expedition
During the month of February 2184, a surprise attack by a large
Automaton force would see the planets on the Western Galactic Rim under attack by a massive robot force. As the defenses in Mantes and Draupnir fell and the Automatons encroached further and further into the Galactic Rim, they eventually advanced onto Ustotu.
It would be here where their advances would be stopped, as the Helldivers began to gain momentum and forced the Automatons to divert their resources towards Tien Kwan, a fruitless endeavor that ultimately paved the way for the robot's demise. Ustotu would be caught in the crossfire between the Helldivers and the Automatons, being stuck in a liberation campaign for months.
Operation Swift Disassembly
As the bots began losing ground and the Helldivers approached the Xzar and Severin Sectors, the Automatons withdrew. With the liberation of Troost, their offensive in Ustotu would be crippled, as they had lost the FTL Line that allowed them to stay supplied. Ustotu and Vandalon IV would be liberated shortly after.
Ustotu would remain under the stewardship of Super Earth for the remainder of the operation, with its colonists joyously celebrating the victory at Malevelon Creek and the righteous eradication of the Automatons at Malevelon Creek.
But peace was to be short-lived. A mere 3 days after their grandiose victory, the Automatons returned, taking over the Valdis Sector and rapidly advancing through the neighboring Andromeda Sector.
The Second Galactic War had begun
Second Galactic War
As the bots were contained in the Menkent Line, they would withdraw into defensive positions, consolidating their defenses around the planets immediately adjacent to the Valdis Sector, with neighboring Varylia 5 and Choepessa IV falling into the enemies' mechanical hands. However, as the war progressed and the Helldivers encircled them, the bots would begin making attempts to break out of the Valdis sector and expand their territories, by making daring raids throughout the Trigon Sector. In early May, they attempted to jump out of Charbal-VII and into the Xzar Sector through Mort but were successfully repelled, leading them to concentrate their advance on the planets connected to Choepessa IV.
While seeing some initial success, with their advances into Varylia 5 and into the Ymir Sector being mostly successful, they would be quickly halted and their successes reversed after Operation Emancipator returned Varylia 5 to the Helldivers, which then forced the bots to attack the only other planet that was connected to Choepessa IV: Ustotu
Defense of Ustotu (June 9th - June 10th)
The Automatons would return to Ustotu on evening of June 9th, 2184. Due to Major Orders from High Command enforicing the focus on Vega Bay, the planet would end up falling by the next day, getting trapped in a deadlock.
Shortly after, as the Helldivers were ordered back into the Terminid Front and then focused on defending the Xzar Sector, the Automatons launched an assault onto Troost. Once Troost's defenses collapsed, both it and Ustotu would be lost for good, as the bots would shortly recover Varylia 5 after a successful assault from Choepessa IV overwhelmed its defenses.
Operation Liberty Crush
Ustotu remained under Automaton occupation throughout the month of June and into July. However, its chance at liberation would appear from an unlikely source. After securing the plans for the intergalactic battle station at X-45, the Automaton Front would be split in half after the success of Operation Righteous Expunge. With Ustotu now cut away from its supply lines to Cyberstan, the order was issued for the liberation of all planets within the encirclement zone. Once Choepessa was liberated on July 28th, some Helldivers would divert towards Ustotu to assist local resistance efforts in order to thwart possible counteroffensives.
Then, on July 31st, shortly after victory at Varylia 5, the main force of the Helldivers began to arrive at Ustotu. The battle would be fierce and lengthy, which would buy the Automaton garrison at Wezen time to fortify its defenses. Victory would be achieved at the late hours of August 1st after almost a full day of fighting, however the Major Order would expire before Wezen could be fully liberated which ultimately made Operation Liberty Crush fail.
Operation Martyr's Calling and Operation Crew Downtime Adjustment
As the
S.E.A.F. pushed the
Automaton further north-west, Ustotu would remain well out of the line of fire for almost eight months, until the Automatons launched a large-scale offensive led by the recently formed
Incineration Corps. Ustotu would be one of the planets to fall to the automaton's vigorous assault and despite managing to hold out from midday on the 25th to the 26th of March, but would ultimately fall to the red tide. However, the victory at Pöpli IX would dealt a crippling blow to the Automaton forces, as not only were their two elite divisions deployed to Pöpli but also a great portion of their conventional forces which had previously been deployed on neighboring worlds, including Ustotu.
The
S.E.A.F. would quickly retake several neighboring worlds and return to Ustotu on the 3rd of April and would 30% of the planet's surface before the Automatons were able to reinforce the garrison on the 7th of April. However less than half an hour later, the engineers at the Deep Mantle Forge Complex on Claorell would finalize plans for two potential upgrades for the
Democracy Space Station, one of which was an Exosuit Support Bay, which would reduce the cooldown of all Exosuit Stratagems by 35%, but would first require the liberation of Automaton Factories on Wezen.
With Ustotu two jumps away from Wezen and already partially liberated, the
Helldivers would redouble their efforts to retake the desert world which would be fully liberated by the afternoon of the 8th of April.
