History
The Lost Corps
Investigations into how this rounding error of epic proportions occured are still ongoing. What is known is that some time between the end of the First Galactic War and the opening of the new
Helldivers training facility on Zegema Paradise, several divisions worth of were being kept in cryostasis in warehouses on Fort Justice as they waited for Super Destroyers to take them to the frontline.
However, the records of these
Helldivers were lost, misplaced, overlooked or perhaps purposefully destroyed by dissidents. As a result, the 35,000,000
Helldivers were never picked up by their Super Destroyers and remained in storage, completely forgotten.
Operation Valid Pretext
On the 14th of funerary, 2186, a spreadsheet audit uncovered the lost divisions of
Helldivers on Fort Justice. Although a massive logistical blunder, under the news of more reinforcements had been found was welcomed on the frontline as the ongoing siege of Cyberstan was rapidly depleting the
Helldiver Corps reserves by the millions every day.
Part of the Navy forces ensure the safety of the DSS in orbit around Fort Justice. February 15th, 2186.
Unfortunately, no sufficiently large FTL-capable vessels were available on such short notice to transport them to the front, save for one: The
Democracy Space Station. Doing so however would take it away from the front for 12 hours. The
Helldiver Corps held a vote on whether to send the DSS to Fort Justice to secure reinforcements, or keep it on Cyberstan to maintain its offensive pressure. Given casualty rates over the past week, the decision was not a hard one to make.
